Walsh Farm in Oak Hill, NY is home to the Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival. Gates open on Wednesday, July 15, and music will run Thursday the 16th through Sunday, July 19th.
Summer is the season for relaxation and camping. The sun is shining, and from the skies to the grass campers are invited to see blue. Leave behind daily routines for a long weekend of fantastic music. This event is overflowing with performances! Camping at the Walsh Farm is the Best Way to Enjoy the Entire FestivalFull-festival ticket prices include admission to the campgrounds from Wednesday, July 15 at noon until Sunday, July 19th at 7:00 pm. For all campers 13 and over, advance ticket prices are $155 (kids 12 and under are free). From July 1st until the 15th, the cost goes up to $175. Purchasing tickets in advance is strongly suggested, as there are only 4,000 camping tickets, which sell out year-to-year. Gates open at noon on Wednesday the 15th and this is a first come, first serve basis. There are no water or electrical hook-ups available throughout the grounds, however there is a list of standard amenities that work to simplify this outdoor experience. Tanks of fresh water will be spaced throughout the campgrounds, along with Port-a-Johns and hand-washing stations. If rain and sun showers aren’t enough, for a small fee camp-goers will have access to hot showers to freshen up after a long day of dancing. Finally, the vendor row at Grey Fox offers a variety of mouth-watering treats to please every palette if coolers empty quicker than expected, or if a sub-compact isn’t conducive for supporting a grill. Ice trucks will circle throughout the event to keep groceries fresh, and there is even a camping supply store for the must-haves left behind. Bring cash to exchange for Funny Money that is used at all of the stations. Be sure to browse the unique crafts and jewelry displayed by local artisans. Music, Music and More Music from Bluegrass GreatsNot just one stage, but four separate stages will offer a variety of offerings each day. Daily, the Main Stage will showcase the event’s headliners. Bring along either a chair or a waterproof blanket to place on the lawn for listening pleasures. The acts are scheduled to begin at noon with the last band hitting the stage at 11:30. Sing along to your favorite songs by the Jerry Douglass Band, The SteelDrivers, the David Grisman Bluegrass Experience and the Del McCoury Band. For a full schedule of performers, go to www.greyfoxbluegrass.com. Cutting a rug is encouraged throughout the campgrounds, but for those looking to really tear it up, there is the Dance Pavilion. Complete with a stage and dance floor, this tent houses those that want to tap their feet to the beat without worrying about disturbing seated onlookers. Here, there are no seats so bring along those dancing shoes! Want to learn to pick like a pro? Under the Masters’ Workshop Tent, guests are invited to listen to tales from the very same musicians scheduled to perform on the main stage. Questions are encouraged! Finally, hit the Family Stage for additional entertainment geared toward kids. In addition to musicians, there will be clowns and magicians, games and movies at sundown. There really is something for everyone! What more could one ask for? Visit www.grayfoxbluegrass.com for a full schedule of events, list of performers and workshops, volunteer registration forms, directions and additional information about the Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival. Let the picking and dancing begin!
